The milestone of the transformation of Pafos into the first Municipality of Cyprus that will implement the total conversion of all parking spaces in the city and the introduction of the "smart parking" system everywhere is approaching.
Already, all public parking spaces in the city have been marked and numbered, while the Municipality of Pafos is currently procuring the "smart" parking management system, for an expenditure of €1.2 million in order to implement the ambitious goal in practice this year.
The project includes the management of parking spaces with the use of sensors in each location, in a total of 3300 parking spaces in organized spaces and roadside.
"There will be a mobile application through which the public will be informed about the available parking spaces at the points of interest, as well as about the payment of parking fees," municipal officials say.
The implementation of the smart system will bring, they add, many great benefits, such as reducing unnecessary movement of vehicles, facilitating the movement of citizens and visitors to the city, as well as reducing pollutants.
